Piemonte, things to do

amazing landscape

Residenza San Vito is located in Piemonte in the northern parts of Italy. Reachable within 1,5 hours drive from Milano and 1,20 hours from Torino. From here there is also only 1 hour with a car to both the Italian seaside and the mountains. Perfect for summer as well as winter. We are located in Calamandrana a small town between the wonderful places of Canelli and Nizza Monferatto. Canelli is known for its spumante and it is believed to be the birthplace of Italian sparkling wine.

There are many great wine producers in Canelli and its surrounding area such as Gancia, Bosca, Contratto, Coppo and Avezza. At Bosca, Coppo and Contratto you can reserve a viewing of their famous undergound cellars and with a wine tasting afterwards Nizza monferatto is a charming and beautiful town with many restaurants and shops, and is in the heart where Nizza D.O.C.G is made which is thought to be the best area to produce Barbera d’Asti.

Piedmont is known for its great red wines such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera. And Spumante like Moscato and Alta Langa. There are many small and large local producers whom you can visit for a magnificent tasting and buying of wine.

The region is also identified for the well-known white truffle and it brings a lot of tourism every autumn both for eating and to be able to join a local truffel hunter and his dog to discover the magic behind finding this white gold. Piemonte are also well-known for having the best hazelnuts in the world, the trees of these small healthy nuts are found everywhere in the area and taste like sweet chocolate. Also producers like Ferrero Rocher and Nutella are found nearby. In 2014 Unesco World Heritage inscribed Langhe, Roero and Monferatto in the list as thanks to the outstanding importance of its wine and culture in Italy.

Our own guided walking wine tours

Residenza San Vito now arrange our own guided walking wine tours, where we start at San Vito, walk through the vineyards where there will be served wine while a guide talk about the grapes you will be drinking. The tour ends with a viewing in the wine making cellar of our farm nearby. Here you will also get some small snacks with the wine and the possibility to buy what you have been drinking. We then drive the wine back to your car for your convenience. The walk its self is not too long, but if you are in need of a car we can arrange with a tasting and viewing at our farm directly without the walking. Please contact us so we can make the best package and solution for you.

New for 2019 is the wine cave in the our restaurant here you will have the possibility for winetasting of our family produced wine which varies from many different types of sparkling-, sweet,- and red wine.
